It seems as though 2015 is the year of Alexander McQueen as the designer is being posthumously honoured in a number exhibition and even on screen.
But the V&A were the first with Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty – the first and largest retrospective of McQueen’s work, which runs until 2nd August 2015.
The exhibition showcasing the late designers entire works, from his 1992 MA Graduate Collection to his last unfinished final collection – Autumn Winter 2010. A provocative and avant-garde designer, McQueen was already a extremely skilled tailor by the time we joined the MA Fashion course in at Central Saint Martins having left school at 15 to become a tailors apprentice.
From these humble beginnings McQueen went on to become one of Britain’s most iconic and successful designer, a self made man in a notoriously insular industry.
