Buckingham Palace, one of the few remaining working royal palaces, opens its doors to the public for eight weeks every summer from Saturday, 25th July to Sunday, 27th September. Do not miss your chance to see it! Visitors also enjoy a special exhibition in the State Rooms as part of the tour of the Palace. This year, the State will recreate the settings of occasions such as the Palace Ballroom and a State Banquet.
The State Rooms were designed and built as the public rooms of the Palace where the monarchs entertain and dignitaries come to pay a visit. Nowadays in Buckingham Palace, the Queen and the members of the Royal Family use the State Rooms to entertain their guests on official, ceremonial and State occasions.
Highlights of the State Room include some of their most treasured items from the Royal Collection. Paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer, Poussin, Canaletto and Claude can be found hanging on the wall. Sculptures by Canova and Chantrey are also exquisite features as well as Sévres porcelain and the finest English and French furniture in the world.
Each year, Buckingham Palace’s summer opening features a special exhibition. This special exhibition can only be seen during that year’s summer opening. Visitors this year will be treated to A Royal Welcome, which focuses on the magnificence and magic of an official visit to Buckingham Palace. Visitors will find out all about the preparations for state visits, royal events and the Queen’s famous garden parties. Q Apartments’ beautiful serviced apartments for short-term apartments and for London corporate accommodation are located in Victoria, just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace.
